Bruce Campbell Could Be Spider-Man 4 Villain; But Which One?
Movie News By Neil Miller on September 14, 2009 | (24) Comments
On the red carpet for the premiere of Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, Bruce Campbell squealed to Access Hollywood about the progress of the upcoming Spider-Man 4 production, which will see the return of director Sam Raimi. Good friends since their days making cult classics such as Evil Dead, Raimi and Campbell are an inseparable duo. Campbell has served up cameos in all three Spider-Man films thus far, and is already looking toward the fourth film.
According to the Burn Notice star, the project will begin shooting in January. He also told Access that he’s being groomed for a much bigger role this time, possibly one as the film’s villain.
Speculation as to which villain Campbell might play is currently underway, including a lot of “fans” (read: journos with an itchy fantasy-casting trigger finger) are saying that Campbell is being lined up to play Mysterio, a special effects wizard and Hollywood stuntman who takes a turn at crime by becoming a master of illusions. It would be an interesting turn for Campbell, who is a fan favorite, but there’s no official word yet. As far as I’m concerned, Bruce Campbell can do no wrong, especially when teamed with Raimi. So bring it on — as long as there’s no dance scene involving Mysterio and Bryce Dallas Howard.
Spider-Man 4 is scheduled for release in May 2011.
What do you think? And if not Mysterio, then who?
