Bree Tanner's Short Second Life

Like the vampires that star in her novels the Twilight series is the series that would not end. Or at least it’s beginning to look that way.

There are two more Twilight movies to come. Two have been released to the delight of fans and the yawns of the disinterested.  But the books were supposed to be at an end with the last book that could be used as a doorstop was released in 2008. The fans had to accept that all they’d be able to do was read and reread and reread the saga of Bella and Sparkly Edward over and over again.

But now a glimmer of hope is on the horizon! Stephanie Meyer is gracing the literary world with a novella titled “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner” which chronicles the life of a newborn vampire. The character appears in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, and is played by Jodelle Ferland. And now Bree has a book of her own. I don’t know if Edward and Bella make guest appearances. I wonder how the Twilight faithful will take to a book that doesn’t have their favorites in it.

The book was originally supposed to be a bonus in the “The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide” but was too long so is now a stand alone book. One dollar from each sale of the first printing goes to the American Red Cross to help quake victims in Haiti. After that first printing sells out in 1.2 seconds I’m not sure if it will apply to the next run or not.

And so it goes. Like vampires who live forever on the blood of humans, The Twilight Saga shall thrive as long as there’s cash burning holes in the pockets of fans.

So, people! Are you biting at the bit to purchase this new “Twilight” book? Will you be buying the “Official Guide” or will you just be pretending none of this is happening.
