Breaking: Major ‘Justice League’ Updates!
Movie News By Neil Miller on August 27, 2007 | (2) Comments
I would normally let something like this sit a little bit, but this little scoop is just too good to pass up. The team over at IESB is reporting today that they have all the necessary information regarding the upcoming Justice League of America flick. For instance, the claim to know who is going to play Superman, and it isn’t Brandon Routh.
From IESB:
Yes there will be motion capture used in the film but it will not be an all out “motion capture production.†Heavy motion capture will be used for the OMACs, the underwater sequences and such. So, all in all, this will be a traditionally made film with some motion capture characters, pretty much like every big fantasy movie these days.”
They are also reporting that “Smallville” star Tom Welling is being actively pursued by Warner Brothers to transfer his version of the Man of Steel to the cinematic landscape. This is something that has been bouncing around the rumor mill, but IESB seems pretty confident that their facts are in fact… well, facts. In my eyes, Welling would be just as good, if not a better choice than Brandon Routh, who was just so-so as Superman in Brian Singer’s reboot Superman Returns.
As far as some of the motion capture goes, it is hard to say at this point. Underwater scenes are a pretty exciting concept, but I am going to wait to see some footage before I throw my hat in either direction. I was not all that impressed with the footage shown of the upcoming Beowulf film at Comic Con, which uses motion capture in a similar manner. On that, we will have to wait and see.
Stay tuned for more as we continue to quadruple check IESB’s facts and await some studio announcements.
