I've never had a problem with Lionsgate BDs. I've only had 2 glitchy discs so far: one was The Dark Knight (WB) and the other was Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (Sony), and both of those were due to pressing errors. I have a Sony BDP-S350.

I have had with Lionsgate Blu-rays. I have a current Panasonic with up to date firmware Gamer, Crank 2 and Saw VI (I know, I know… I'm not proud of these choices) have all locked up multiple times during the playing of each. I cleaned them, tried again and they would stop in the same places if I didn't skip over that spot. I have had no problems with Blu-rays from other companies.

Sometimes it's just bad luck. I had a similar problem. I bought 500 Days of Summer and it won't play on my brand new Oppo (the best BDP). Firmware was up to date, other blu-rays play fine, but it would just freeze before it got to the title menu. I exchanged the blu ray 3 TIMES so it wasn't a specific disc. After some research it turns out Oppo has problems playing some 20th Century Fox titles. The disc works perfectly fine on my Panasonic BDP60. Strange

Thank you gentlemen, I did update the firmware and it is still giving me the same problem. Figured someone may have had the same probelm and found a solution.

Don't play console games as I am a PC snob and like my mouse and keyboard combo better. lol

your better of with a ps3, but yea rob is right, i dont know if the bluray players need some firmware updates but make sure your bd player is up to date.

As much as I have been impressed with some of Lionsgate's output, the Near Dark Blu-ray looks like shite. DNRed to hell and back so that Bill Paxton et al look like wax figurines.

The Phantom – Wow, I remember seeing this when it was released and remember it fondly. I wonder how well it holds up all these years later?

I haven't had any trouble with them, but I use a PS3. Check with Phillips to make sure there aren't any downloads you're missing to update the player you're using. All Blu-rays come with a warning about how the 'technology is advancing' or some bull. Most problems can be avoided by downloading all the updates for your equipment.

Good little article, I've been noticing that Lionsgate has been pumping out old titles on blu-ray recently. Even though most of those flicks aren't that great, I appreciate the effort. Most studios aren't releasing nearly enough older titles on blu-ray. I was in Best Buy the other day and saw Frailty, one of my favorites, and was quite surprised. I don't know, i might just have to pick up Hard Rain, which I still prefer to remember by it's original and less corny name, “The Flood.” It's one of my guilty pleasures as I saw it when I was a kid and loved the whole action movie under water aspect.

Okthis may not be the place but has anyone else had problems with Lionsgate Blu-rays on their players?? I recently purchased “Gamer” and can't watch it as it won't load properly on my Phillips Blu-ray player it simply pulls up a small box on the screen. When I read up on the back of the package the requirements are many.
