Brad Pitt Makes Being a ‘Basterd’ Look So Chic

Brad Pitt as Lt. Aldo Raine in Inglourious Basterds

Faithful FSR reader David dropped me a line this afternoon to let me know that the folks over at Empire Online, as well as plenty of other sites around the webosphere, have put up the first image from the set of Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds. This of course, is the project that QT has been talking about for years, but has only recently decided to put into action. And this first image, of one Brad Pitt posing as Lt. Aldo Raine, leader of a group of Jewish -American soldiers, known as ‘The Basterds’ who are chosen specifically to spread fear among the Third Reich by scalping and brutally killing Nazis. Tarantino has called this his own WWII version of a spaghetti western. Whatever that means, I have a feeling that this could turn out to be a lot of fun — or it could absolutely suck. Or both. Either way, I do know this — that Brad Pitt sure can make Jewish WWII soldierin’ look sexy.

Inglourious Basterds is scheduled to hit theaters in June 2009. Feel free to leave your own thoughts in the comment area below.

  • Got to say he is the perfect Lt. Aldo Raine.

How did that make it past any kind of editing phase?

Inglorious Bastards. BASTARDS. Not "basterds". Not "inglourius".

    Inglorious. Bastards.
  • Well maybe the whole spelling issue gets him past the whole inevitable MPAA problems that Kevin Smith is currently undergoing.

Actually no. I was looking online, and the article author is correct, and I apologize.

It's Quentin Tarantino who is the retard apparently. Check IMDB. The movie actually IS spelled "Inglourious Basterds".
  • Ummm yes I was talking about Tarantino having spelled it wrongly as is common knowledge from when the script showed up so my comment regards Tarantino's choice not Mr Millers - I don't think FSR are quite controlled by the MPAA yet.

The title "Inglorious Basterds" seperates it from the title it's being based off of, called "Inglorious Bastards". It's stuck since the first draft, I guess.
  • Actually, David, I have to consult the fucking MPAA on everything I do, and it chaps my hide like a sandpaper dildo.

This post intended only for children.
  • [Expletive Deleted] the MPAA! What the [Expletive Deleted]? Can't say [Expletive Deleted] when the [Expletive Deleted] MPAA stick there [Expletive Deleted] noses in.
  • What is the MPAA?
