Box Office Update: $151 Million for Indiana Jones 4
Box Office By John Cairns on May 26, 2008 | Be the First To CommentWelcome to a special — and quick — Memorial Day update on the box office numbers for the entire four-day weekend. Projections for Monday are now in and without further ado, here are the Friday-to-Monday numbers.
| 1. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull | $126 million |
| 2. The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian | $28 million |
| 3. Iron Man | $25 million |
| 4. What Happens in Vegas | $11 million |
| 5. Speed Racer | $5 million |
| 6. Baby Mama | $4.2 million |
| 7. Made of Honor | $4.2 million |
| 8. Forgetting Sarah Marshall | $2.2 million |
| 9. Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay | $1.2 million |
| 10. The Visitor | $917,000 |
Adding these numbers to Thursday’s haul, Indiana Jones 4 has officially topped $151 million for its five-day holiday opening. Not too bad, but not a record-setting performance.
Still, it’s the best performance for any movie so far this year, and it’s very likely to be the top grossing movie of 2008. Like I say, if this is the best the top-grossing movie of the year is likely to do — a non-record haul — then everyone in Hollywood has to be worried about a possible down summer. Then again, maybe a movie will come along that will capture everyone’s imagination and do even better. Maybe Indiana Jones 4 can be had. Naaaaah.
Hope you had a happy Memorial Day at a theater or in front of a DVD player near you! See you later this week when The Reject Report has Sex in the City. (Man, I have to work harder on these headlines.)
