Jack Bauer and James Bond

I’m bound and gagged. Handcuffed to a chair somewhere in a dark, musty warehouse. Dust is creeping into my lungs, and I miss my stuffed animals, but I managed to intercept a critical piece of news from a source that I refuse to name.*

Joel Surnow, the co-creator of television phenomenon “24″, and Martin Campbell, the man behind the wheel of Casino Royale will be swearing a blood oath together and developing an as-yet-unnamed spy thriller.

The project is being backed by United Artists, so there’s a strong possibility that the film is being specifically made for Tom Cruise to star in. No confirmation on that yet.

Two large men with jumper cables are headed my way, so I don’t have much time left, but I will say that this project sounds incredible. The blend of two great action-spy personae seems perfect, and it seems like a great time for Surnow to jump into film making. I have no doubt that he can create another iconic spy hero and that Campbell will be able to shoot the hell out of him. Or her.

If I survive the torture and escape, expect more updates.

Transmission Over.
