Bill Murray to appear in Get Smart

After seeing footage from GET SMART at Comic Con, I am certainly hooked. To be honest, I have been hooked on the project ever since Steve Carrell and Peter Segal came aboard. Today, AICN is reporting a scoop that Bill Murray will join an already star-studded cast that includes Carrell, Anne Hathaway, The Rock, Alan Arkin, Terence Stamp and Ken Davitian.
Murray is said to be playing Agent 13, who hides in trash cans and mailboxes, popping up to provide Maxwell Smart with information when needed. Can you imagine the hilarities that could ensue with Bill Murray popping in and out of mailboxes? Alright — maybe they aren’t so obvious anymore, but Murray still has a comedic presence. He was fantastic in THE LIFE AQUATIC. I for one am hoping that they put Murray to good use, as he is long overdue for a good comedic role.
As GET SMART gets closer to release, it is looking better and better. This is just one of many surprises that Peter Segal promised when I spoke with him at Comic Con. I say keep ‘em coming.
