EJO is what us “Battlestar” nerds call Edward James Olmos.
The man who commands Galactica is directing a two-hour movie for the Sci-Fi Channel about what happened before the Cylon attack. The film will star Dean Stockwell (Cylon #1), Michael Trucco (Starbuck’s husband Anders), and Aaron Douglas (Chief Tyrol). The story will take place on Caprica right before and after the explosion that started the series and we’ll get to see Cylons dealing with the survivors of the blast, and see Anders lead the resistance.
Olmos has directed four episodes of the series, as well as a couple films including American Me and an episode of the 80′s series “Miami Vice.” Olmos directed one of the more dramatic episodes from this season, “Escape Velocity.” Jane Espenson, who wrote “Escape Velocity” and on other series such as “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “The OC” is writing the not-yet-named film.
The production is set to begin filming in Vancouver and will be aired and released on DVD in 2009, sometime after the “BSG” series finale.
