Arnett Out, Kilmer In as KITT

Oh the politics of business. Variety is reporting that popular comedian Will Arnett (Arrested Development, Let’s Go to Prison) is being dropped from the upcoming NBC revival of Knight Rider. Those of you with sharp ears may have recognized Arnett’s voice from a long running series of GM advertisements. With KITT now a Ford Mustang, the people over at Ford decided having the “voice of GMC trucks” coming out of their Mustang wasn’t cool.

So despite his well received performance on the show, Arnett is out and Val Kilmer (Tombstone, Top Gun) is in. Kilmer will have his work cut out for him in completing all the dialog within two weeks for the shows debut.

While it sucks to lose Will Arnett, who is genuinely funny, I’m liking the casting of Val Kilmer. Numero uno, I’m a big fan of his and numero dos, I think his voice is a lot closer to the orginal KITT.

Knight Rider will premiere on February 17th.

  • Anyone ever read that interview Chuck Klosterman did with Val Kilmer? He seems crazy. Just throwing that in there. Klosterman is the MAN!
  • We couldn't post a picture of him during his Iceman days!!!??
  • Wow, he really let himself go.

I didn't know it was Val, but I still don't like the voice. It lacks the sophistication of William Daniels.
