He’s not exactly the world of movie geekdom’s first choice to direct any film, but Date Night and Night at the Museum helmer Shawn Levy continues to get work. And in this episode of his career, he will be working with a concept oozing with cool. You know it as the Hugh Jackman-led robotic boxing film Real Steel. It’s the big-screen version of Rock ‘Em, Sock ‘Em Robots, set in a world where human boxers have been replaced by two-ton robots.

Jackman will play a former boxer who now manages a robot with his estranged son. He will be joined — this according to Variety — by Anthony Mackie and Evangeline Lilly. Mackie will play a boxing promoter, while Lilly (or as she’s known to the world, Kate from Lost) will play a friend of Jackman’s character.

It’s all pretty straightforward. Not a bad cast, especially for a Shawn Levy movie.
