Another Kung Fu Panda Trailer, More Scatting From a Panda That Sounds Like Jack Black

Skibidi bee bop, skibidi do. I remember the first time that I heard actor Jack Black lay down a little scat, back when I first took in one of my favorite rom-coms of all-time, High Fidelity. Back then he was the lead man of Barry Jive and the Uptown Five. Now, he has gone through his Tenacious D days and on into his days of making out with fat versions of Gwyneth Paltrow and showing his ass in artsy flicks like Margot at the Wedding — and he has been scatting his way through it all. So it seems only proper that this second full trailer for Kung Fu Panda, Black’s answer to Mike Myers’ Shrek phenomenon (I mean, doesn’t every comedic star get their own animated franchise these days?), that we would end with the panda doing a little scatting. I’m sure there is more folks, I am sure there’s more.
But all jokes aside, all signs point to this being a relatively entertaining flick. I had heard that it was solid a while back from my good friend Pete over at Slashfilm, who got a chance to see an unfinished version a few months back. And considering my already low expectations for the film — it’s not made by Pixar, so it is guilty until proven innocent — I predict that I could just like it. That is, as long as they leave out the scatting and come with the comedy.
Kung Fu Panda hits theaters on June 6th, 2008. Check out the official synopsis and it’s movie poster below. You can also catch this trailer in High Definition over at Yahoo Movies.
Synopsis: Enthusiastic, big and a little clumsy, Po (Jack Black) is the biggest fan of kung fu around…which doesn’t exactly come in handy while working every day in his family’s noodle shop. Unexpectedly chosen to fulfill an ancient prophecy, Po’s dreams become reality when he joins the world of kung fu and studies alongside his idols, the legendary Furious Five—Tigress (Angelina Jolie), Crane (David Cross), Mantis (Seth Rogen), Viper (Lucy Liu) and Monkey (Jackie Chan)—under the leadership of their guru, Master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman). But before they know it, the vengeful and treacherous snow leopard Tai Lung (Ian McShane) is headed their way, and it’s up to Po to defend everyone from the oncoming threat. Can he turn his dreams of becoming a kung fu master into reality? Po puts his heart into the task, and the unlikely hero ultimately finds that his greatest weaknesses turn out to be his greatest strengths.
