Angels and Demons to begin Filming Soon
Posted by Joe Ngo (joe@filmschoolrejects.com) on October 28, 2007
After the great commercial success of The Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons announced to hit theaters in December of 2008. According to /Film, production is set to start in February of 2008. Screenwriter Akiva Goldsman is apparently writing non-stop to get this finished before the writers strike, which is slated to be in November. Tom Hanks is set to return in the film adaptation of one of Dan Brown’s greatest novels, and his salary is said to be the highest salary ever for any actor. Most of the filming for Angels and Demons will take place on location in Rome.
Despite mostly negative reviews, The Da Vinci Code managed to gross over $700 million at the box office. Angels and Demons features a race against time to find a murderer and a time bomb in the Vatican and was published in 2007.
I hope that Angels and Demons will be better than The Da Vinci Code. I know that film adaptations are rarely better than then novel which they came from, but I only thought Da Vinci Code was ok, and a lot more was expected out of such a great novel. Let’s hope I am not disappointed again!
Did you know that the creators of 24 wanted to use The Da Vinci Code as the premise of their third season. Their offer was rejected, but when Sony bought the rights to the book, they hired the same producer, Brian Grazer, to produce the film.

The books were terrific. The DaVinci Code movie? What a piece of crap that was. The book was filled with scandal when it was published. Then the scandal transferred to the production of the movie. And what did they do with the movie? Washed and dumbed it all down. It was utterly horrible! And I can’t believe they are making Angels and Demons. I’m sure it will be yet another horrific movie, I’m sorry to say. And yet again, the books far outweigh the movies.
