Amazing Featurette Reveals Some Secrets of District 9

As I noted in my recent wrap-up of The 7 Most Buzzed About Movies of Comic-Con 2009, the buzz around the Peter Jackson produced, Neill Blomkamp directed sci-fi pic District 9 is red hot. Our own Robert Fure attended the screening at Comic-Con and subsequently proclaimed that the film is, in fact, quite awesome. You can see more of that in his District 9 video blog from the Con.
For those of us who weren’t lucky enough to see the film this past weekend in San Diego, there is still the anticipation of the film’s August 14th release. The story of an alien race forced to live in a quarantined slum in South Africa, fighting against an oppressive government for their right to go back to their home world, District 9 is both the most provocative and most surprising project of the year.
Needless to say, we’re keeping an eye out for anything and everything related to this release — which led us to this brand new featurette, which was sent over to us by the kids at Trailer Addict. It reveals a little bit more of the film’s back story and shows off some additional footage not seen in previous trailers. One cool thing that I noticed is the unique nature of the alien race — note that some of them are colored differently and seem to have their own personalities. Very cool. Check it out for yourself below.
District 9 is in theaters August 14, 2009.
