Over on Filmwad, they must have had people looking at the newest Cloverfield trailer obsessively, just hoping for something like this to come along, and by gosh was it worth it! From the looks of things, through some very eye-straining peering through the footage, they have hit the jackpot, footage of Cloverfield’s never-seen-before monster. A shot that’s blink and you miss it in the trailer, they’ve slowed it down and zoomed it in, to allow for a better look, and from the looks of it, it’s Godzilla crossed with a T-Rex. If only we could see the head!

Take a look at the clip below.

Mind you, it’s this sort of analysis that’s going to build Cloverfield up so much that it can’t meet the impossible expectations of the public. J.J. Abrams doesn’t seem to be too worried about that aspect of things though, from his withholding of the title to get word of mouth going, to not showing much of anything in the initial teaser, and then showing only a tantalising glimpse of the monster for a split second in the newest trailer, he seems to be upping the word of mouth stakes with every move made. Whether it pays off for him or not, only time will tell. We’ll see on 1-18-08 whether all this hype is going to equal a big hit or a big miss.
