We don’t know what’s going to be playing at Sundance. No one does. No one except the half-dozen dolphin-werewolf hybrid creatures that choose the line up every year and keep it secret until some time next week. Luckily, several of the were-dolphins are susceptible to bribery, and we’ve got buzz on our side.

Here’s a look at a few films that might make the slate in Utah.

An Education – This coming-of-age story is set in London in the 1960s. It features acting powerhouses Emma Thompson, Alfred Molina, and Peter Sarsgaard. It was written by Nick Hornby (High Fidelity) and directed by Lone Scherfig.

Brooklyn’s Finest – Major directing talent Antoine Fuqua helms this cop drama featuring Don Cheadle, Richard Gere, Ethan Hawke, Wesley Snipes, and Ellen Barkin.

I Love You, Phillip Morris – Writer/Directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa bring their comedic, dramatic, love story to the screen. It’s already gotten major buzz for Jim Carrey’s and Ewan McGregor’s performances.

Spread – A sex comedy featuring Ashton Kutcher and Anne Heche where Kutcher plays a serial monogamist (read: manwhore). It’s directed by David Mackenzie (Young Adam, Mister Foe) and written by newcomers Paul Kolsby and Jason Dean Hall.

The Greatest – Pierce Brosnan and Susan Sarandon star in a drama that focuses on a young girl as part of a family coping with the loss of their son. It’s written and directed by newish writer and first-time director Shana Feste.

Are we sure that these films will play there? Nope. Our inside sources could be lying, but there’s a good shot that these flicks will be headed for the slopes of Utah early next year. And so will we. Even if we don’t get the opportunity to see these there, will keep an eye open to check them out as there’s a good chance they’ll be released sometime during 2009.
