Charles never competed with Adam for Cathy; he wanted nothing to do with her and didn't want Adam to marry her! I am kinda psyched that they are remaking it, the '55 version lacked alot and strayed rather far from the novel regarding the relationship between Adam and Cal.

One of my favorite books, indeed a classic. Never seen a film to be better than the book it originates from: Jurassic Park, Starship Troopers, Blade Runner and even as recently as Choke but I welcome this new East of Eden.
