Most news items result in a fanboy jumping for joy, kissing the nearest female (his mother), or logging on to furiously type his expert opinion in the talkbacks. The release of new images from Starship Troopers 3 however, will probably make most ask when Starship Troopers 2 was ever released.

The answer is 2004. On Video. The third installment, which sees the return of Casper Van Dien as Rico, posted some new pics on its blog that actually look pretty good. Further investigation reveals that most of the cast this time around at least have head shots on IMDB and a few credits to their name.

Jolene Blalock, most notably, from Star Trek: Enterprise and Marnette Patterson from, wait for it, Camp Nowhere and indie flick The Standard are also attached.

With little buzz, this film is nowhere near anyone’s Top 10 Most Anticipated Movies of 2008 List, but with any luck, it will be as cheesy and wonderfully terrible as its namesake. The first one. Not the second.

Check out two of the images below or head over to StarshipTroopers3.net to see the rest.
