2007 Preview: Sony Pictures

With Christmas out of the way, we are all anticipating the new year for one reason or another. Here at Film School Rejects we are anticipating what looks like a great year for movies. Here is a sneak peak of what Sony Pictures has in store for us in 2007, and if we think the film will make the 2007 Honor Roll, slide to the Merit Roll or be sentenced to Academic Probation.

Spiderman 3
Starring: Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, Thomas Haden Church and Topher Grace
Director: Sam Raimi
Synopsis: Spider-Man 3 is scheduled for release on May 4, 2007, and will reunite returning cast members Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst and James Franco with director Sam Raimi and producers Laura Ziskin and Marvel Studio’s Avi Arad, the successful filmmaking team responsible for the first two films. Thomas Haden Church and Topher Grace have joined the cast of the blockbuster franchise.

Ghost Rider
Starring: Nicolas Cage, Eva Mendes, Peter Fonda
Director: Mark Steven Johnson
Synopsis: In Columbia Pictures’ action adventure Ghost Riderâ„¢ superstar motorcycle stunt rider Johnny Blaze (Nicolas Cage) strikes a deal with the vile Mephistopheles for the most precious of commodities, his immortal soul. Now Johnny Blaze is forever destined to ride night after night as the host to the powerful supernatural entity known as the Ghost Riderâ„¢.

Synopsis: An ominous darkness invades a seemingly serene sunflower farm in North Dakota, and the Solomon family is torn apart by suspicion, mayhem and murder.

Starring: Jennifer Garner, Kevin Smith, Timothy Olyphant, Juliette Lewis
Director: Susannah Grant
Synopsis: A woman struggles to accept the death of her husband and the secrets he kept from her as she rebuilds her life.
The Verdict: Merit Roll
Stomp The Yard
Starring: Meagan Good, Bryan J. White, Ne-Yo
Director: Sylvain White
Synopsis: After the death of his younger brother, a troubled 19-year-old street dancer from Los Angeles is able to bypass juvenile hall by enrolling in the historically black, Truth University in Atlanta, Georgia. But his efforts to get an education and woo the girl he likes are sidelined when he is courted by the top two campus fraternities, both of which want and need his fierce street-style dance moves to win the highly coveted national step show competition.
