Eleven were injured Sunday night, at the set of Tom Cruise’s new film, Valkyrie, when they flew off a truck, Berlin police stated.
According to a United Artist producer’s spokesman, the accident occurred when a side panel of the vehicle, which was made of wooden slates, burst open during a harsh turn near Potsdamer Platz in Berlin, causing the extras to fall out. The vehicle was not traveling more than 10 miles per hour.
All eleven were taken to the hospital and treated for minor injury, however, one was forced to stay overnight. An investigation is underway to verify that this incident was not due to negligence, and the vehicle is being examined for defects.
Yahoo News reports that the spokesman did not know if this would affect the film scheduling, while Variety states that this misadventure would not affect the film scheduling.
Valkyrie stars Tom Cruise, who was not at the scene of the accident, as Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg, the brain behind the failed attempt to assassinate Adolf Hitler. The film is set to open in August of next year.
