If I ever calculate how much I've spent on DVDs in the last 8 years (seeing as how I bought my first one at 16), I think I will realise that sitting on those bookcases and in stacks around my room, I have a nice little car/house deposit/amazing holiday. But I don't care, they look purdy, not to mention all the entertainment!

Of course, what with living here (Ireland), a fave dvd store would be difficult, we mostly have chains like Virgin (HMV mainly though) and it just doesn't have the same appeal! So, I choose instead to not get gouged and to shop online, thus preserving my fair skin for later on in life, when I must leave the computer and go into the big bad world. Of course, if there was a second hand store around, I'd be quite content to fry to a crisp, there really is something about poking around the bargain bin and coming up with a real find, makes it feel like you've really earned the movie, somehow.

790: I thought it was just me that would buy em and leave them in a pile, never getting to the watching, or getting to it after months! I have a stack of about 15-20 movies which I have been keeping outside the main collection in order to make myself watch them. They vary in age, some are 3 years old, others are a month or two, but still, can't quite get around to it.

Oh, and Danny - is that your room in the picture? C'mon, you can 'fess up, it's ok. You're among friends... *snigger*

Very funny read Danny. I'm the same way. I'm very lucky that I live in LA area and there's a few used dvd/cd stores that really kick ass when it comes to getting a used dvd cheap.
Amoeba is one of the biggest of them. Its a huge store in downtown Hellywood. They have really high prices on New dvds but there used stuff is rock bottom.
They even have a section of dvds that have minor scratches and those go for 4.99. I just recently grabbed Doc Strangelove collectors edition for 5 bucks. They also have lots of promotional stuff and that can also save you money.
This is real bad because I'm addicted. I'm so hooked on dvds that I buy them and never get around to watching them.
There like a fine wine I can always goto when I want to watch a film.

Just yesterday I picked up "Cloverfield" for 14.99 at Frys. That one I did watch last night until the beer finnaly dragged me down. So I have to rewatch that tonight.

Also have to agree with your assesment of Curcuit City & Blockbuster merging.
Poop meet puke.....
I'm going to cheer when Blockbuster finnally goes chap 11. Screw them and their family editied films. Blaah!

So Danny your not alone.
