Dan Fogler is hitting Hollywood like an explosion, that Michael Bay strangely had nothing to do with, and finding fame with every role he takes. Dan is stealing the throne as Hollywood’s busiest man from Shia LaBeouf, and hopefully slaps his Balls of Fury across his face on the way out. You can expect to see Dan in Balls of Fury, Good Luck Chuck and Fanboys. I had a chance to sit down with him and talk about movies, fame and Walken.

When I asked Dan to speak for Balls of Fury, he had a lot to say. I wanted to know what audiences can expect from the film, especially with such a short trailer. “I don’t know if people…are prepared for how incredibly hysterical it is. Multiply the preview by, like a hundred, and you’ve got our movie…time wise as well. How long is that? You do the math.” I also wanted to know what it would be like to be on set with guys like Ben Garant, Thomas Lennon and of course Walken. When talking about director Ben Garant and co-star Thomas Lennon, Dan spoke with much admiration and respect in his voice. He also explained how much fun it was on the set. “The two of them together…they are like of one mind…You can probably like put one in like a soundless chamber and the other one in a similar kind of chamber, and ask them questions, and they would answer for the other one. Like a telepathic bond, telepathic James Bond.” Ultimately though, what I wanted was a Walken story.

When I asked Dan about Walken, all he could do was laugh and say “Walked was awesome dude, like can you imagine..What do you think it would be like to work with Walken? It is as eccentric and as cool, and he is as out there as you think he is.” I could only imagine that I would be cowering in his presence like a schoolgirl. Dan received his Hollywood moment though when Walken appeared in front of him, “Suddenly you’re shaking hands with him, and the first time I met him…he had this swooping bouffant and a braid that goes well down, well below his ass. It’s like a horse hair braid. I shake hands with him and I’m flabbergasted and like ‘Hey man, hi I’m Dan.’ Then he’s like ‘Hi, I’m Chris.’ The braid is the kind of braid that he could like whip it, and if it had like a spike at the end of it he could hit you like in a crazy Kung-Fu movie. I didn’t know what to say to him, and he was like feeling that energy. Then he looks at me and goes, ‘You know, this isn’t my real hair.’”

Walken, Lennon and Garant weren’t the only ones who Dan enjoyed working with though. “Maggie Q is awesome. She is just like so…hot! She is just incredibly sexy doing Kung-Fu moves. She plays my love interest in it, and what a great world huh? George Lopez is hysterical. He is like my Han Solo…If I were to be Luke. Very funny to find the similarities between Balls of Fury and Star Wars. We could pick it apart for weeks! Or at least a half hour. James Hong was in it. Not only is he ninety million years old…you expect him to be evil. You expect James Hong to be able to like shoot lightning-bolts from his clawed fingers.”

The cast sounds awesome, as does the film and I can’t wait to check it out. Be sure to look out for Balls of Fury, and check out the rest of our coverage at our Comic-Con Homepage.
