Video: Real African Men vs. Hollywood Stereotypes
Features By Scott Beggs on April 26, 2012 | 1 Comment
Okay, so admittedly, Hollywood movies have the ability/inclination to skew our visions of different ethnic groups. For years after seeing Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, I was convinced that all Germans swam in giant rivers of cocoa. After living here, I can confirm that it’s not true at all. Giant rivers of Pilsner are a different story.
However, a group that’s definitely been given the cartoon treatment is African men.
These young gentlemen have made a very funny video to challenge the stereotype that Hollywood has created:
It links back to MAMA Hope, which you should check it. A clever way to use movies for a good cause.
Hat tip to sometimes-contributor James Kopecky for sending this along.
