Good lord, when she had that little tangent about the cheesy rolls or whatever the food was where she proudly but kind of ashamedly sang the theme song, I nearly died. No one does self-deprecating like Tina Fey does.

I'm also not a huge Judah Friedlander fan. He draws attention to himself a lot, especially with the hats, but it's sort of a running gag now and it can't really be stopped.

the more you re-watch episodes of 30 Rock, the funnier jenna becomes. or if you imagine her character to be completely self-aware. then she's drop-dead hilarious. and tracy is hilarious!

no one can be smart-eye-rolling-exasperated-nerd-funny as well as tina fey, so i think it's great that they just have these clownish people as the talent she has to work with/her friends. although, i have to say - alec baldwin is the absolute hands-down greatest thing about that show. and i think judah friedlander is disgusting.

it's also a completely different experience if you watch the episodes commercial-free and without stopping. tv on dvd (or blu-ray) is so. much. better.

One thing that I thought was hilarious by Tracy was the cutaway at the beginning of him doing stand-up with the impersonation of eating lobster and then screaming “don't make eye contact with me.” Writing it out isn't very funny, but his delivery was good – switching so abruptly from one mood to the other. It was also funny to hear him scream “if it's another blond woman I'll kill myself,” though admittedly, that pay off came from the set up when Jenna said it earlier.

Speaking of Jenna, I normally consider her to be the weakest link but she largely stayed on the sidelines this episode. So that helped.

Nice review! I like the episode but I still think Tracy is the weakest link. I did not find a single line of his funny. My favorite part of the episode is the final scene.
