And just like that, we’re back in your face with another edition of This Week in Movie Posters. Well, hopefully not too “up in your face.” If so, please back away from the monitor. My writing has been known to injure people, and not in a good way.

This week it’s all about love, growing old, fighting mythical creatures, taming mythical creatures and getting Sleeping Beauty’s lazy ass out of bed. In fact, let me just take a moment to say something I’ve been wanting to say for a long time: I wish she’d get a job already. Serious SL, in this economy you can’t get caught sleeping all day.

But enough banter, you came here for posters. So posters I will provide…

Waking Sleeping Beauty – Not the Easiest Thing in the World

From what I understand, legendary Disney producer Don Hahn’s documentary about the way animation as we know it was born is brilliant, charming and as quaint as the cocktail napkin seen above. It left Toronto ’09 with electric buzz and a lot of acclaim. Personally, I can’t wait to see it. I would also thank it for allowing me to be punny in my opening. That’s always appreciated.

Clash of the Titans – The Mother-effers Are Gonna Clash

If I have to hear one more time that the damned Titans are going to clash in gosh-darned 3D, I’m going to wrap my keyboard around the new stripper pole Dr. Abaius had installed here at the HQ. We get it, things will be clashing and the Gods can go screw themselves with a Trident. Enough. To drive home the message, Warner Bros. has released seven new posters this week. If you click on the one above, you will be taken to all seven. Enjoy yourself.

How to Train Your Dragon – Kid, Please Don’t Feed the Mythical Fire-breathing Creature

I’ve been giving this Dreamworks Animation release a hard time as of late. Mostly because it wasn’t made by Pixar, and we all know how partial I am to Pixar. That said, I’m going to promise all of you that I will give it a chance when it comes out. Dreamworks has shown themselves to be more than capable in the past — I loved Kung Fu Panda — and they deserve more respect from yours truly. This poster however, is just okay.

Defendor – Look at All Those Quotes!

We must wonder: with Woody Harrelson looking ridiculous in that helmet and eye make-up, and a title like Defendor, do we really need a bunch of quotes from excited critics? I’d go see this movie if the poster was simply the picture. No title, no tagline, no quotes, just the picture. Also, I count 5 quotes on this poster from Ain’t It Cool News… That’s suspect, Alliance Films. Diversity is key, not hyperbole from message board trolls.
