Checking the date we posted this vs. the release dates of half the movies you mentioned might help you swallow it a bit better.

I am not a big fan of this list either. No Avatar, No Country For Old Men, The Town, Inception, Shutter Island, Inglorious Basterds....the list goes on. Even as a fan of Super Troopers I am saying that it has no business being on this list. I do like the inclusion of documentaries but not the ones seen here. Memento? Number one? That movie will put anyone to sleep.

Well I mostly agree with this and I won't go into how I would have done it because nobody cares. But i still feel like Miyazaki movies are the animated equivalent of oscar bait. Not one of them has a good story to tell, just a lot of pretty pictures squiggling around. I mean even I liked Ponyo but separate the story from the amazing animation and it can in no way stand on it's own. I mean, compare that to UP or really anything by Pixar (except Cars).

I thought the list was fine... Anchorman is always hilarious but... really? Memento? Fronting a list that has Spirited Away, Almost Famous, and Big Fish? No, thank you.

I just watched Dear Zachary for the first time just a little while ago and they are NOT exagerating. You don't cry. You weep. You have to silence your sobs. The most devestating thing I have ever seen. Anybody who thinks I'm kidding I fucking DARE you to watch that movie. You have no idea what your in for.

Honestly, Avatar sucks. The story is so... american, has no emotion in it, just mainstream, a story made so that the big majority of the people will like it. Just something you would expect from such a movie. For the rest, the way it was made, the nice 3D graphic makes the difference, but not the story, the idea and the movie itself. I would not put this on the list.

I did not see many of the movies on the list, but I agree regarding Oldboy and Eternal Sunshine... Also, Departed was a great movie, but the simple fact that most people saw departed and not the original chinese movie (Mou Gan Dou) it does not matter the american remake is better. I also think that Inception deserves a place on the list.

Yea, I don't mean to come off as a prick but Eric is right. This list is really mainstream. There was not one movie on this list that wasn't at some point in full release and everyone had the ability to go and see.
You don't have to be "cutting edge" or be trying to impress anyone just because you see most movies that are playing at your local theater.
Anyways, this is actually a really great list. I'm sad that neither Donnie Darko, Pan's Labyrinth, and Gosford Park didn't make this list while Anchorman and Big Fish did. But that would be making it my list not yours.
The fact that Son of Rambow made it is probably my favorite part of this whole page. Seriously underrated movie. And one of my favorites of this decade as well. Also Dear Zachary. In fact I am very impressed with this entire list. I'm going to go rewatch every one of these like... right now.

Eternal Sunshine? That movie was such horseshit, I can't believe it made #2...What with Carrey trying and failing to play an intellectual role, and a bunch of super-famous people casted to play lame characters that they're way overqualified to play made it laughable...The science behind it was slightly creative, but even though the movie's fiction, you should try to stick to shit that's somewhat believable...I mean, the writer's lack of understanding of how the human brain works just made it all seem like some junior high kid wrote the script.
And Up? Really? That movie's about some impossibly old guy who lives with hundreds of dogs who can talk and perform complex tasks that only humans can do, an old man carrying a house attached to a garden hose around on his back, and there's a giant rainbow bird running around that has eluded its hunter for decades despite the fact that they're in a relatively enclosed area. The plot's too random and sporatic that the adorable opening montage can't make up for it.

I had forgotten about Dear Zachary, then I read the title and then there was just tears that wouldn't stop as I read the synopsis. I want to watch it again but I'm worried about breaking my heart a second time on that movie.
