I've been fortune enough to see this on the big screen a couple of times now. The most recent was here in Los Angeles at the Silent Movie Theater. They had a live theramin player which was pretty wonderful. (I don't recall who it was but I seem to remember that it was from one of the German Pscyhedelic bands of the 70's like Faust or Can?)

I've been waiting (impatiently) for the restored version to come out.

What a masterpiece. Getting to see this thing on the big screen a few years ago was a major highlight for me as a fan. And a live band is the only way to watch these things, I've decided. BNAT 5 had The General with the John Forsythe Band playing live, and it was absolutely phenomenal. Damn. Genius.
