I won’t start off with a lie and say that Predators was one of my most anticipated films of the year, but I will say that after seeing the sneak peek…Predators is now. Chatting with director Nimród Antal was a great way to understand where the film came from and where it is going. I have a feeling that this one will sneak up on everyone and just blow us all away.
The script was actually tossed around in the 1990′s, and written by producer Robert Rodriguez. So needless to say, Predators was a very real project far before those AVP films. When I heard that Rodriguez was involved, my interest was mildly piqued. When I saw the cast involved, I was pretty impressed but still barely interested. After meeting the man that tied it all together, and seeing the footage…I am crazy excited for this film. Nimród Antal has directed films such as Kontroll, Vacancy, Armored and now Predators. The guy has a pretty good understanding of fear and tension, so just wait until you see the trailer for Predators.
My first impression of what I saw? I loved it, and couldn’t help but smile ear to ear during the presentation. Make no mistake, you will see a movie that lives up to the first film, and honestly could even be better considering the cast and the advancements in special effects. I could tell that the project is very near and dear to both Rodriguez and Antal, and that usually translates into a treat for the fans.
