Toy Story and the entire series is the most overrated and irritating thing I have ever seen…the fact that grown men worship it and idolize it boggles my mind. I always though Toy story was a good movie and now have grown to hate anything about it because of all the crazy people. I even had someone tell me…they would pay to see a Pixar movie even if it was two hours of paint drying on a wall….can you say brainwashed?!?

The question wasn't whats the best animated film of all time though, it was is Toy Story overrated and in that there is no argument.

I guess I'm the only one who thought Michelle won. They both seem to agree that other animated movies have better stories, or are funnier. To me that ends the argument Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, and Wall-E are the movies we should be talking about when asking the question of what the best animated film of all time is.

Is Citizen Cain the best movie of all time, it's a great movie, the first real epic movie and pioneered a LOT of film techniques that are still used today, and if you compare it to every movie that came out 20 years before and 20 years after it and it probably wins hands down but compare it to some of the more modern epic movies with half a billion dollar budgets and amazingly talented casts, does it really compete. Citizen Cain deserves our adoration and respect but it is no longer the greatest movie ever made.

One last thing about Toy Story, Most of the toy characters are multidimensional, but the humans all seem to be one dimensional, I'm sure this was decided at some point since the toys are the focus of the movie, hence the title. This is especially evident with Sid, he's pure evil, I certainly hope that theres a deleted scene somewhere where you can see his father abusing him, then showing him going to take out his rage on his toys.

That from your closing argument is the main contention here as the majority say it is, you say it is not but we must also remember before Toy Story there wasn't really competition.

Absolutely. At least Josh touched on content . . . but lacked a solid argument overall. I think most people would side with Josh only because they agree with him.
What makes a movie great? Innovation? Aesthetic? Story? I think that a story — specifically its universality — on top of a solid production is what separates the interesting and the F**King AWESOME. Why was the matrix so good? Every single 14 yr old first-time stoner got an intellectual hardon at the "maybe-nothing-is-real" idea well before it was ever put on screen. Likewise, what child didn't fantasize at one point or another that their toys would come to life when nobody was looking? The premise is simple and universal; nostalgic to adults, mind-blowing to kids. Throw in jealousy, self discovery and a villain who can find a perfect match in anyone's childhood memories . . . its damn near perfect.

"fight club is overrated?" OH NO YOU DIDN'T! How is it overrated? I'd love to read your argument on that. You're forgetting it wasn't a huge box office hit, nor was it critically acclaimed. It found an audience on DVD. Just because people caught up with it and a lot of people saw it and liked it doesn't make it overrated. It means it finally found its audience. Ughh. I just hate when something gets popular its called overrated. Also, Tory Story rules.
