I think I was one of the 5 people that bought the entire run of this comic series. I really liked it and would love to see it get some love outside of fans it initially picked up.
But. . . like most (semi) long-form comics, how much would you cover in a movie? I enjoyed the way it (prematurely) ended, but it'd be hard to get there in one movie, and to stretch it out over two or three would be pretty risky.
Also, your Mamie casting: spot on.

Dr. Abaius actually covered Christopher Moore in one of the very first Print To Projector articles, but if memory serves it was Lamb he cast.

Minty Fresh is one of my favorite Moore characters outside of the Pine Cove crew. I love the image of his lime green suit and purple 50s Cadillac taking on the harpies.

Dr. Abiaus,

Thanks for the article. I'm not familiar with the work of director Sebastian Gutierrez so i can't say if I agree or disagree. (Though you know a Hell of a lot more about movies than me so I'll defer to your expertise.)

May I throw in a wild card as director? How about Kevin Smith? I regard Dogma as one of his best films and perhaps my favorite. Yes, it has that particular "Kevin Smith" vibe to it, but it covers all the bases mentioned above. (Catholicism and sex.) His natural inclination is already towards a slightly more absurd take, and presuming he could be reigned in to the proper degree, this sounds like something he would handle and handle well.

If he wouldn't work as director (Since he usually brings in his own cast of regulars.) perhaps he should just handle the script writing chores and leave the directing to someone else?

Sounds pretty good. May have to check this one out. Another one that I would suggest is A Dirty Job by Christopher Moore. Again, extremely outrageous and ridiculous, but hilarious, and it has a good heart. Plus a large black man named Minty Fresh.
