Neil, you've captured the magic of the movie perfectly.

The whole damned thing would have been worth it just for that Grace Scene at the dinner table alone.

And, of course you can force people to adopt your Christmas traditions. It may not be healthy for them to drink a gallon of eggnog by themselves or punch anyone who carols on your doorstep while yelling "Welcome to Ohio, bitch!", but a little movie watching never hurt anyone.

cracked.com did a comedy piece about Die Hard being the ultimate Christmas movie. If you read that and took it to heart, you know what I mean. If not, then you'll love the write-up. Either way, John McClane's constant references to Jesus F*ing Christ are in the true spirit of the holiday and its origin.

I love this movie. It is my second favorite Christmas movie (only behind “Die Hard”), and I, too, have an annual tradition of watching the shit out of this movie. Almost every line is quotable, from the expletive-filled rant Clark unleashes near the end (“Hallelujah! Holy Shit! Where's the Tylenol?”) to the seemingly innocuous bits that are immediately recognizable by anyone who's ever seen the movie even when recited without proper inflection (“I don't KNOW, Margot!”). Great article.

This is by far my favorite Christmas movie. My stepdad can't even think about this movie without bursting into laughter. It really brings back memories from many, many Christmases over the years.
