Jurassic Park was the movie that got me to love movies. It is why I’m studying multimedia and film
I was only 6 at the time but I would not let my parents NOT take me. By all accounts I was two young
but I saw it 8 more time in the theater after and from the moment Hammond says ” welcome to Jurassic park!”. I knew I was in love

It was the first movie I ever saw in theaters….you always remember your first time

On topic, Jurassic Park is an awesome movie, and was a wonderful experience as a little kid. It was the first VHS I ever owned (got it as a birthday present). In fact I thought Jurassic Park was so amazing that I had to see the sequel on the day it came out…while I was on a family vacation in South Padre.

Jurassic Park is one of those movies that people kind of write off, because it's "a movie about dinosaurs"... but as this article helps to point out, it's actually a really well made movie. Yes, it's about dinosaurs, but that's not the only thing it's got going for it (unlike most "monster" movies).

I too experienced this film at the age of 9. Not only was 9 an amazing age to watch this movie for the first time, BUT: a) We were watching the birth of CGI as we know it. NOTHING like the dinosaurs in JP had ever been done before. Seeing that Brachiosaurus was the equivalent to the a star destroyer entering screen in 1977. Absolutely groundbreaking. And as a professional 3D artist, I tell you those effects in JP still hold up well today. They were SO ahead of their time.

And b) at that age, I was obessed with dinosaurs(even more so they most 9 year old boys); I wanted to be a paleotolengist until the age of 14.

All these things combined made for one of the most pivotal movie watching moments in my life. I'll never forget it.

To this day whenever Jurassic Park is on TV, no matter what part it is, I put the remote down and watch it through to the end. Every time though, without fail, I find myself yelling at Tim during the Lex on the computer/Raptors trying to get in control room scene. Lex is doing her Unix thing, Grant, Sattler and Malcolm are all fighting to keep the door closed during which Sattler is also feebly trying to bring the gun closer with her foot so she can grab it. Meanwhile Tim's looking back and forth from the door to Lex and jumping up and down in a panic. Why doesn't he help Sattler by handing her the gun!!!

Still a brilliant movie, though.

Totally agree! Jurassic park kicks total a** and was probably one of the most memorable movies from being a kid. Like come on, who doesn't love dinosaurs ripping and roaring and *ucking sh!t up? Also I don't even care I'm going to say it, I want a fourth one! Although the movies looked amazing, imagine what they could do now? Just a thought.

I love this film and the book (and its sequel book, though the 2nd movie has nothing to do with the 2nd book besides having some of the same characters and being set in the same place).

One thing that always bugged me was the 12 year old girl hacker though.

The effects in this film still look fantastic.
