IMO Halloween is a shoddy excuse for a film, mired in sluggish camerawork, boring repetitive motifs and unrealistic physical acting which gives rise to numerous ridiculous scenes that are impossible to take seriously (i.e. most of the climax). It has aged extremely poorly and looks amateurish in the extreme, even compared to independent and horror flicks of the same era or before (for example, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre).

Then again, one man's meat is another man's poisson.

I just watched Halloween III: Season of the Witch last week. It's crap, I know that but I just had fond memories of it as a kid and I have no idea why. I'd include it in your marathon though there is some seriously hilarious stuff. Tom Atkins is just absurd as a womanizing doctor. Best line "Let's go some place we can talk without the whole town listening to us... Let's get a motel room" "Okay" And then ironically the room is tapped.... and so is she... boo-ya

What an excellent review of one of the greatest horror films of all time. I'll be watching it and its subsequent films sans number three and Zombie's crap the week leading up to Halloween.
