First of all love the commentary.

But this is really my all time worst sci fi movie ever. Its painful to watch the pitiful mind numbing plot slither from one tedious scene to the next only to be somehow in an out of body experience scream "make it stop, MAKE IT STOP"

This movie made me psychically ill.

Robert Vaughn is the only worthwhile character. Even though I love George Peppard, I'd rather watch an entire season of Oprah than watch this movie one more time.

I first learned about this film from an article about it in Starlog magazine. I then saw it at least three times in the theatre after it was released. I just watched it again about two months ago on dvd. I still love it as much now as I did back when I first saw it in 1982.

This is truly an unexpected surprise! I remember this movie when it first aired on network television I can still remember thinking to myself this is the most entertainingly entrancing pile of craptastic movies I have ever seen. It was sci-fi porn at it's best and just like real porn I felt guilty for watching it but I just couldn't stop.
Being just a young child I just couldn't figure out how that kid with the mole from Walton's mountain ended up on another planet flying the ugliest space ship ever created. I kept waiting for someone say "Good night John boy" at the very end.

Fear not Jeff, this column is still in its infancy. You can be sure I will cover Deathrace 2000. In fact, I have an idea for that particular entry that I'm betting you will enjoy. Thanks for reading

OH MY GOD!!!! Mr. Brian Salisbury, you are a God among men.

First, I love Roger Corman. He was the first and original guerilla film maker. I've heard a few stories about how he goes about creating his films and it makes your toes curl.

Second, he is much beloved in Hollywood and rightfully so. (At least that is the impression I get of him. Maybe I'm worng?) As you point out, many great film makers got their start with him. One great actor who started with Corman who you neglectied to mention is Jack Nicholson. One of his first role was in Little Shop Of Horrors and I believe he had several other roles in early Corman flicks.

Also, Peter Bogdanovich got his start writing for Corman, and indirectly got his start in directing due to Corman. It's contained inthe commentary for Targets. Since it's been a while since I listened to that great commentary I might get a few of the details confused.

Bogdanovich did a rewrite for Wild Angels and wanted to direct something. Corman liked him and said, "I've got Boris Karloff signed for more 2 days of shooting. Why don't you take over the contract?" (Corman has always been know for coming in under time and under budget.)

Bogdanovich had Targets ready to go, or at least mostly so and added in the part of Karloff as Byron Orlok.

My one big complaint is that you didn't cover Death Race 2000 instead. I'm really hoping to one day find a picture of the tie that Slyvester Stallone wears in that film. <lol>

Okay, sorry for going off on a tanget. Great column. I'm looking forward to next weeks article.
