BFFs Jerry Bruckheimer and Michael (Awesome) Bay are looking into working together again for an HBO series based on the documentary Cocaine Cowboys.
Variety is reporting that the project would focus on the Colombian-American drug trade during the 1980s. It appears that Bruckheimer and The Awesome One would be executive producing, so no word yet on whether Bay will explode the entire southern tip of Florida during production or not. We can dream, though.
FSR reported back in the day about Marky Mark and Leonardo DiCaprio looking into a film adaptation of Cocaine Cowboys. The post had a hilariously similar title to this one. You can chalk that up to me being lazy and Neil paying me for each pun I make. Get it? “Chalk it up”? Cocaine? Ah, nevermind.
If you can sift through the Variety-speak, this latest article backs up that former development rumor, claiming that Paramount is working with Wahlberg (but not Leo) and director Peter Berg for the project.
If this Summer is the Summer of the Fanboy, next Summer may be a White Christmas. I’m just excited to see what Fast Food tie-ins Michael (Awesome) Bay can dream up for this one:
