LELAINA PIERCE, REALITY BITES
“Welcome to the world of the emtionally mature. Maybe you’ve seen Michael. He lives here.” – Lelaina Pierce
Lelaina Pierce, as played by Winona Ryder in Reality Bites, is so emblematic of the ’90s and “Generation X” and still speaks to those of us who choose to work in the film and TV industry and keep having to get shitty jobs and scrape our way through life — bet a lot of you others are reading this too! Make the winter of your friends’ discontents melt away with the sheer happiness of opening some of these gifts during the holidays.

So, remember when Lelaina’s stepfather gave her that gas card? Seemed like a crappy graduation present, especially for a valedictorian, but it sure proved to be useful, didn’t it…

Schoolhouse Rock! 30th Anniversary Edition
Priced at $12.49 (at Amazon)
Featuring Lelaina’s jam, “I’m Just A Bill,” and many others, this nostalgic collection will likely please whoever gets the 2-disc set. After all, we could all use a brush up on our grammar and governmental functions.

The Psychic Within Kit – With Dionne Warwick
Priced at $15.19 (at Amazon)
As we all learned from watching Reality Bites, calling psychic hotlines is pretty expensive. Thankfully, with the help of this book, your Lelaina-like friends can cut down on some of their phone bill costs by realizing their own innate psychic powers. First made in 1994, coincidentally the same year as Reality Bites’ release, the kit contains a 30-minute video, a 30-minute audio tape, and a 48-page booklet. While in limited supply, this is really still sold on Amazon. One would assume the video is a VHS, which would likely provide novelty amusement for many.
