zach-galifianakis-1

Seven or eight of you probably fell in love with Zach Galifiniakis during his break out role in the hilarious, over-the-top, drunken snowboarding comedy Out Cold which may or may not have been the last time Jason London was in a movie. Unless you count Dracula III: Legacy. Which I don’t. Or if you mistake him for Jeremy London who really hasn’t worked since then. Which I do.

The rest of you fell in love with him through his stand up work for The Comedians of Comedy or his solo DVD Live at the Purple Onion.

I make no secret of my love of Galifiniakis’s comedy. He’s a modern-day Andy Kaufman, creating uncomfortable scenarios and making us laugh at things that we probably never thought we’d respond to. A comedian who is not afraid to mix high brow with fart jokes or to dress up like Annie, flaunting his polkadot dress all over the stage.

I was lucky enough to sit down with the man while I was wandering the streets of Las Vegas disoriented and destitute. He took me in, fed me, and agreed to go on camera about his life, his role in the upcoming comedy The Hangover, the different parts of the brain, the rumor that he’ll play The Green Lantern, and obscure Scottish dramas.

For context, I shared an elevator ride with him earlier in the day where he was lamenting doing junkets, which is what we’re discussing when the interview informally starts up. Also, the fern in the corner was just a happy coincidence.

We now take you back to the interview, already in progress:
