City of Ember was an amazing book, and I've heard that the art direction and production design for the film was top notch, so I'm excited to see it.

But I can see how it wouldn't be everybody's cup of tea.

The story is generally that two kids live in Ember, where they rely on large lights which are powered by a generator. When the lights are out, there's no light whatsoever and you can't leave the town because it's so dark that the only people who have tried either go missing or insane. Except, now the generator is failing and the kids realize the people have to find a way out.

Sadly, the movie's advertisements have completely given away the ending. I'm still grumpy about this.

This was a really disappointing week of releases. I didn't even go out to pick any of these up. In fact, I might just rent the ones I'm vaguely interested in. Normally I end up buying 2 or 3 new releases a week.

In regards to The Express, considering the number of "heartwarming" and "inspirational" real life stories there are out there about sports personalities that, oh I don't know, beat the odds and rise up as the underdog and all that crap... well aren't they all a little less special now that it seems these things happen to just about everyone? I mean a year doesn't go by when one of these "based on a true story" inspirational movies doesn't come out, at some point, people have to kind of look back and think "you know what, this isn't nearly as unique as this movie is trying to tell me it is."
