A wise man once said “It’s not just about seeing Star Wars two weeks before everyone else. You’ve gotta plow through crap like Marie Antoinette and Catwoman as well.” I have the fortune of being able to see all of the films that I want, and find out that they are only worth one viewing (or less) before I would willingly pay for the DVD…and subsequently end up hating myself later. But for every The Whoopee Boys there has to be an Indiana Jones, and it is because of the great films I am able to put myself further in debt every week.

The Counterfeiters (Fälscher, Die)
Director: Stefan Ruzowitzky
Cast:
Rated: Rated R for some strong violence, brief sexuality/nudity and language.
Synopsis: A true story about one of the largest counterfeiting operations ever.
Why Buy It?: With an Oscar win, you might easily call that a reason to see this one. Warning, this is a foreign film. So for anyone who might be buying Starship Troopers 3 this week, you might not want to find your thinking cap for a viewing of this one. Sorry Robert, I know you are on your way to Best Buy for Starship Troopers 3.
Formats: Standard DVD
Code Monkeys – Season 1
Director: Adam De La Peña
Cast:
Rated:
Synopsis: Two video game developers go from having Steve Wozniak as their boss, to a crazy Texan with a derelict for a son.
Why Buy It?: So how about this: If you are a gamer, you will love this show. This is a series that takes its roots from a South Park style of humor, and applies it to the gaming and tech world. Smart, but also simple humor makes this show a gem from G4…who would have thought?
Formats: Standard DVD

Nim’s Island
Director: Jennifer Flackett, Mark Levin
Cast: Abigail Breslin, Jodie Foster, Gerard Butler
Rated: Rated PG for mild adventure action and brief language.
Synopsis: Gerard Butler, not kicking ass…
Why Avoid It?: So first off, this doesn’t look like one of those kid’s movies that totally capture the imagination. So that right there takes away alot of interest. To top it off though, just like PS I Love You, I don’t want to see Gerard Butler doing anything but kicking ass. For all I know though, he might be fist-fighting, drunk, eating a raw onion and being an overall badass in this movie, Probably not though.
Formats: Standard DVD, Blu-Ray
Starship Troopers 3: Marauder
Director: Edward Neumeier
Cast: Casper Van Dien, Jolene Blalock
Rated: Rated R for violence, language and some nudity.
Synopsis: Alien bugs, some nudity, plotholes.
Why Avoid It?: Casper Van Dien is back! He is reprising his role as John Rico, the hotshot teenage army grunt with a penchant for killing bugs. So here’s the problem now…He is 40 years old. I know he doesn’t look like it, but this movie better show Jolene Blalock and Marnette Patterson in some interesting positions. On a side note, I used to have the worst crush on Marnette Patterson because of Camp Nowhere.
Formats: Standard DVD, Blu-Ray
