Why So Serious Again?

Call it a ploy for making even more money or an earnest response to the fanbase and their feverish desires, but The Dark Knight is hitting theaters again on Friday after destroying the world last year and breaking almost every record on the books.

Today’s discussion question is a simple one that needs little in the way of introduction. We’ve all seen it. I’ve met people from remote villages in Brazil that have seen it. Hell, some of you (and them) may have already seen it twice (or fourteen times).

Now, the question we’re asking, and that IMAX is asking on Friday:

Will you go see The Dark Knight again? Why or why not?

Side question: Does it appear like a selfish money-grab or a mutually beneficial situation for fans and the studio?

Side side question: Is it too convenient that they’re re-releasing it on the anniversary week of Heath Ledger‘s death?

It’s starting to feel like the question isn’t so simple after all. By the end of the weekend, we should have a solid idea of whether or not the film can pull another rabbit out of a hat. Or at least make another pencil disappear.
