Discuss: Who Would You Cast as Green Lantern?

A few days ago, there was some newish news about Green Lantern in the form of comments from producer Donald De Line about how real Hal Jordan is going to be. We already know a ton about the project: that Martin Cambell is bringing the skills behind the director’s chair, that there’ll be a Hal Jordan origin story, that the tone will be closer to Iron Man than to The Dark Knight.
Whether or not it’s possible to create a realistic version of a man who gains superpowers from an alien ring, becoming part of a universal group of fighters wielding the power of the ring (that can’t handle the color yellow or wood-products), is yet to be seen. That’s a debate for another time. The debate for this time is the final part of the puzzle for this movie – who will play Hal Jordan?
And, of course, the better question is who should be playing Hal Jordan.
Should it be a known star who can bring the box office or someone who won’t overshadow the role? How strictly should the casting adhere to the comic book? Age-wise? Race-wise? Is it weird that the first movie should be focusing on the second Green Lantern?
I’m going to throw out a name that I think would work really well – although he may not have the stern chin needed to pull it off. Nathan Fillion. Even better, if Nathan Fillion had Bruce Cambell’s chin grafted on. That’s my two cents for what it’s worth.
