Discuss: Should Megan Fox Tomb Raid as Lara Croft?

Megan Fox as Lara Croft

Feel free to file this as a crazy rumor for now. IGN is duplicating a story printed up by Latino Review that covered the Spanish-based Europa Press story that Megan Fox might be in talks to take up the role of Lara Croft. If that doesn’t sound like totally believable news, I’m not sure what does.

Basically, that would mean that a third film in a franchise that hasn’t been greenlit yet, would be 1) greenlit and 2) at the casting phase already which means it has a) financing and b) a production team.

However implausible (for now), it does raise an important question: Would it be cool for Megan Fox to play Lara Croft?

Of course, by “important,” I mean “ridiculous yet fun.”

This is totally opening up our message board to a discussion about cup size, isn’t it?

What do you think? Could Fox take up the role of Lara Croft? Could she step into the…shoes…of Angelina Jolie? Is she actually big enough to carry her own film? Really?

  • When you ask if she's big enough, we're still talking shoes - right? Anyway, she's a total babe and all (A+ on the featured pic), but I don't think Tomb Raider needs to be explored any further than it already has. They popped out two films and the video game franchise hasn't had anything to brag about since back when the first film was put together. Isn't Fox carrying Jennifer's Body?

    Megan Fox, the whore of Hollywood. How the hell actually thinks she is sexy? Angelina did the first 2, it was great I love and own each of them. There is no reason why this ugly bimbo should even get the part. She doesn't know how to act, there is no way she can do Lara Croft justice. Please Warner Bros. If you read any blog, You need to understand, Megan Fox will stink up the series. It wont be good, people won't watch it, period.
  • Couldn't be any worse than Angelina Jolie was....plus Fox has some action film experience going into it....I'm more interested in who they'll get to direct because there were quality actors involved with the series (Chris Barrie, Daniel Craig, Gerard Butler, Noah Taylor, Djimon Hounsou, Til Schweiger) but rather lame directing and writing....

    Ehh...As much as I want to see Megan Fox in that infamous suit, this is Angelina's role...it just won't feel right even though it would look perfectly fine.

    I'm all for recasting Jolie. I think she is the most over rated actress of all time. But Megan Fox? Come on. Why do they have to use some actress with a recognizeable name? Just cast some unknown. It'll be better for the film because it wont carry the expectations that come with a recognizable name as the titular character.

    I guess as long as it's not Angelina Jolie, I'm a happy man.
  • I agree I loath her so-called acting....she's so abrasive and robot-like in her performances...recasting and rebooting is a great idea...I'd rather like it if they steered clear of the fantasy elements and went more Bond/Indiana it would be nice to see a female version of Jones...if it's an actual trained actress playing Croft it would be nice as well...
  • Really, Lara Croft has never been a nuanced protagonist, in either movies or games. You could use any hot starlet to portray her and tah-dah,mission accomplished, watch the money flow in.
