By far his sense of humour is amazing and it is what keeps me watching his films. There's nothing better than a good laugh. But if he puts out another movie like Zack and Miri. I'll be waiting for a DVD release I'm not waisting money on a film that shouldn't be in the cinema.

That being said I'd like to see what he can do with someone else work. Lets hope I'm not sitting in the cinema thinking I am a dick for paying another $15 to see his film.

Since Smith is not writing this one, will the script hold up? I'm not convinced that Smith is a "good" director. (I certainly don't think of him as a bad director, but his isn't a name that perks up my ears as a director. Ridley Scott, yes, Kevin Smith, no.) Smith is a competent director, he won't embarrass himself or his cast and I seriously doubt anyone will hate the movie based on the direction.

Kevin Smith fans go to the theater for a Kevin Smith script and seeing Kevin Smith's "crew" play their parts. (Jeff Anderson, Ben Affleck and Jason Mewes bring a certain charm to their roles which I'm certain is partly due to their relationship with Smith.) Kevin Smith doesn't add (Or detract) anything in the role he is playing.

I myself did not agree with that, but I never thought that had a single thing to do with someone's ability to govern. I can say the same thing about Kevin Smith and his movies. Sure, I would love to hang out and marvel at his giant TV that Panasonic gave him and watch Blu-Rays, but I'm growing increasingly less excited about the prospect of another Kevin Smith movie.

There was a growth that seems to have stopped after 'Jersey Girl'. While a lot of people didn't care for 'Jersey Girl', I thought it showed promise as a more coherent movie that flowed nicely and had a bigger point than referencing Star Wars and other geek culture touchstones. Which, as this site recently pointed out…are getting really old. We get it, 'Star Wars' was a big deal to a generation of kids.

So, in the end, I guess there's a certain amount of cheerleading to be done, because 'geeks'…whatever that means nowadays…see him as one of their own. The guy who made it big and still gets them. But I think you have to look at them on a case by case basis really.
