Daily Diversion: SoBe’s Monsters vs. Aliens 3D Superbowl Commercial
Daily Diversion By Neil Miller on January 28, 2009 | (4) CommentsQuick, go get your 3D glasses. We’ll wait. Alright, now that you’ve successfully retrieved something that you would never publicly admit to owning, it is important to tell you that the video above is not in 3D. The good news though, is that you are all set to see this same video in 3 dimensions when it runs during the commercial breaks of Superbowl 43 on February 3. In addition to the Monsters vs. Aliens 3D trailer that Dreamworks Animation has cooked up for the big game, they have also lent their characters to the folks at SoBe, who will combine them with football players and their world famous dancing lizards in a 3D extravaganza. The version you see above is the final commercial, but its brilliance is obviously muted by the bi-dimensional medium. It’s obvious — at least to me — that this commercial will be leaps and bounds better once that 3rd dimension is added. Wouldn’t you agree?
Agree or disagree, this commercial is happening. Also, feel free to check out a behind-the-scenes video for this commercial over on YouTube. Say what you want about the kitschy football player dance, but those damn lizards are pretty funny. For more cool videos, check out The Daily Diversion archive.
