Daily Diversion: Mickey Rourke and Chris Jericho on Larry King
Daily Diversion By Neil Miller on January 29, 2009 | (20) CommentsToday’s daily diversion requires very little explanation. Mickey Rourke went on Larry King Live the other day, where he was forced to talk to Chris Jericho, whom he had called out a few days ago on the red carpet. Rourke had reportedly claimed that he would like to take on Jericho at Wrestlemania, or something along those lines (I’m not sure, I wasn’t paying attention). This time Jericho was there to confront him via satellite and do some of that WWE trash talking that is so infamously groan-inducing.
And as you see above, Rourke is playing it cool and taking the high road. Of course, that won’t stop this Jericho fella from inviting him into the ring for a “real” wrestling match. It begs the question: who would win if Mickey Rourke and Chris Jericho met in the main event? The answer is simple. No one. In this hypothetical situation where a resurgent Hollywood actor steps into the realm of America’s most ridiculous and fraudulent pastime, everyone loses. Rourke loses, the WWE loses, movie fans lose and oh yeah, dignity itself gets knocked down a peg or two. It’s just silly. I for one am happy to see that Rourke isn’t going to stoop to a lesser form of entertainment. He’s an Oscar-nominated actor, not some roided-up clown in spandex.
