You’ve probably noticed a trend in past Daily Diversions in that they’re usually entertaining videos designed to be watched, enjoyed, and then immediately forgotten. Well that changes today. You’ll still watch it. You’ll still enjoy it. But you’ll carry it’s message with you forever as you march onto the battlefield, gun in hand, and take aim… sorry, I’m getting ahead of myself.  Watch this:

I know what you’re thinking.  “You know what’s a good abuse prevention ad?  Mother fucking Johnny Rico promising to murder people.”  Okay, maybe it’s just a sarcastic Fure thinking that one.  But really, Starship Troopers as a vehicle to speak out against child abuse?  Is it idiocy or pure genius?

I’m not sure if Casper Van Dien knew what he was saying at the end there, but it sure sounds like he’s suggesting we should be forming some kind of vigilante squad to go out and kill child abusers.  “I need you on this battlefield trooper. You know what to do.”  Sure I agree, but it’s an oddly direct (and possibly illegal) piece of advice.  With any luck this will start a trend, and soon we’ll have The Punisher, Robocop, and The Wrestler all asking us to take up arms and pile drive child abuse into extinction.

Those of you interested in what else the geniuses behind this ad have to say about the horrors of child abuse should check out ChildHelp‘s site.

If you absolutely have to base your PSA in the Starship Troopers universe, may I suggest a nice group shower scene?
