Daily Diversion: Big Man Japan Stomps Your Senses

Posted by Neil Miller (neil@filmschoolrejects.com) on February 11, 2009

It gave me great pleasure to see that a screening of Big Man Japan went over so well at this past weekend’s New York Comic-Con. I had seen the film in April of last year at the Ohio 24-hour Science Fiction Marathon, where it was met by quite a few perplexed gazes. Yet despite its wild premise — about a man who is transformed via nipple electrocution into a giant hero who fights of evil monsters — the film is so wildly ambitious and delightfully weird that you can’t help but be intrigued. Magnet Releasing realized this and has added it to its Six Shooter film series, which also included the 2008 hit Let the Right One In and the thriller Donkey Punch.

For more on Magnet’s slate, check out Six Shooter Film Series. For a few more images, head over to IGN. For more cool videos, check out The Daily Diversion archive. If you’d like to send us a video, please feel free to drop it off to editors@filmschoolrejects.com.

It seems as if 1) There should be Power Rangers in it, or 2) There should be tiny, comedic silhouettes at the bottom of the screen.

YES. I will be one of the 7 people who go to see this film...

Come to think of it, western movies must look just as bizarre to foreign audiences. I'm sure when the Japanese see trailers for 'spiderman 2' or 'snakes on a plane' they're probably thinking how freaking wierd westerners are.
