I'd say 5 is one of the 3 worst in the franchise (with 8 and 9) and a big reason for that is there's no Jason in the movie. The best thing about 5 is it made way for 6 to round out the Jarvis trilogy, and I absolutely love 6. From 5 on the MPAA had their way with the franchise and I always hear about how much bloodier 6 and 7 were shot and how bad they were cut down so maybe the same applies for 5.
