I always thought MBV was just OK and knew what the MPAA had done to it. Thank god for the remake ushering this puppy out, totally justifies it as a classic slasher, where previously I think it was only considered a classic because of how awesome the Harry Warden character looks and the amount of press it got in Fango. Crossing my fingers for F13 parts 4, 6 and 7 uncut now.

If you like the movie or have never seen it, the new footage is totally worth it. Sure, it was a timed release to capitalize on the remake, but this is the best disc of MBV that is out there. The other ones are low print runs or double features that have poorer picture quality because of sharing disc space.

The only difference is added gore around the killings. I watched the regular cut first and, like I said, it was a C-. Then I went and looked at all the "lost footage" and it was all extended kill sequences, that were really quite amazing. My Bloody Valentine was massacred by cuts, restored it was way better. If you watch it with the integrated footage, you can still tell where it is because the film stock has been mildly degraded.

This is the 1981 film, just with more 1981 footage added to it.
