Some say it's better, some not. I haven't seen either yet. Another big problem with this Blu-ray is that the only english subtitle track is a track for the hearing impared (including such anoying subtitles as "gunshots" and such). And this is one movie that really needs its english subtitles since it was all done with japanese actors speaking engrish phonetically without having a clue as to the actual words... The Japanese import version of this Blu-ray (via Sony) is the longer cut and features 6.1 uncompressed audio (this one only has 5.1) but has ABSOLUTELY NO ENGLISH SUBTITLES... and cost twice as much... Just so you all know...
